Dewberry picking time at Fort Morgan

Dewberries in Fort Morgan mean fresh dewberry pie and dewberry pepper jam!!

For you earthy earth day folks on the peninsula at Fort Morgan or most all of the folks living near the latitude 30 area its a great time for dewberries to be gathered.I picked mine today at Fort Morgan and intend to make some Jam this weekend and i will follow up with the recipe and process later. A dewberry cobbler may be in the makes as well.

To follow up we have made a dewberry pie and dewberry heat jam. I love cooking and making foods that are gathered from nature that have had no assistance from any hand other than that of Mr Sunshine and Moma nature.

Dewberry pie is very easy to make even for a novice cook. Here are the steps:

Cheat a little and buy a pie shell of your choice.

Heat the pie shell at 400 degrees for 15 minutes.

Pour a good filling of dewberries.

Add 3/4 cup of sugar on top.

1 half cup of cornstarch to solidify.

    Bake for 45 minutes

    Enjoy!!
